Registrar – VSO School of Music

DESCRIPTION:
The VSO School of Music is a new state-of-the-art community music school slated to open in February 2011. Located behind the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Vancouver, BC, this new 25,000 square foot educational facility will include 17 instruction rooms, 2 classrooms, ensemble room, percussion room, computer listening stations, 6 practice rooms, gift shop and cafe. In addition, the School will have an acoustically isolated 120-seat recital hall with recording and distance learning capabilities. Students of the VSO School of Music will be of all ages and abilities. Private and group lessons, classes and ensembles will be offered throughout the year.

The Registrar will report to the Executive Director and this new position begins on October 4, 2010.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process and manage student registrations for lessons, classes and summer programs
• Maintain schedules for instruction rooms through room scheduling software
• Coordinate and supervise student recitals and events as needed
• Edit and distribute quarterly newsletter
• Assist with marketing, programming and student registration database management
• Provide exceptional service to parents, students and multiple external parties

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous classical musical training and knowledge of educational practices required
• At least 3 years of proven customer service experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with previous experience using graphic design software
• Self motivated while also enjoys being part of a team
• Experience working in a non-profit setting an asset
• Able to meet deadlines while maintaining a great sense of humour
• Must submit to a Criminal Record Check

REMUNERATION:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience
