Experience The Orpheum

When it opened in 1927 as a vaudeville house, the Orpheum Theatre was the biggest of its kind in Canada. For the next forty years the theatre operated as a movie house, until the City of Vancouver bought it in 1974. Following renovations, the Orpheum was reopened in 1977 and has been the permanent home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra ever since. With its soaring ceiling, stunning chandelier, and opulent style, the Orpheum is one of the most impressive theatres in Canada and, as such, is a designated National Heritage Site.
