Amanda Chan

Amanda Chan piano

Amanda Chan has achieved recognition in her career as concert pianist, teacher, lecturer, adjudicator and examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. She has given solo and ensemble concerts in Canada and abroad including U.S.A., China and Europe. Born and raised in Vancouver, she started her music studies with Mr. Edward Parker and was highly successful in her early competitive career including winning First and Top Prizes in the Canadian Music Competition National Finals, CIBC National Music Festival, Canadian Federation Of Music Teachers Association National Bach Competition and CBC National Competition, to name a few.

After completing the ARCT diploma and receiving the Gold Medal, Ms. Chan went on with full University scholarships and Canada Council grants to complete her Bachelor of Music degree at UBC under Mr. Kum-Sing Lee; and Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Southern California under John Perry. At both institutions, she received the prestigious “Top Graduate” award upon graduation. Ms. Chan is Head of the Piano Department at the Vancouver Academy of Music; and Sessional Lecturer at UBC, School of Music. She is an active ensemble pianist and plays occasionally as a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
