Lawrence Blackman

Lawrence Blackman viola

Larry Blackman has been playing violin and/or viola for 50 years. He started on the violin but found violinists worked too hard so switched to viola after 7 years of violin playing. In his 43 years as a violist he has played thousands and thousands of orchestra concerts - no one noticed. Larry plans to retire as soon as his kids are self sufficient or when he can no longer tie his shoes - which ever comes first. Both of Larry's parents have played the viola, as do two of his brothers. Fortunately neither of his two sons has shown any interest in the viola.

Larry has many hobbies of a typical violist including house demolition, log salvage, chain sawing, and shake splitting. He also enjoys boating and has developed his own unique technique of hull riding.
