
Acclaimed worldwide for her lustrous voice and charismatic stage presence, Nadya Blanchette is a guest soloist in Europe, USA, Japan, South Africa, Venezuela and China for concerts, recitals and prestigious international events.
A multi-faceted artist, she is remembered for her compelling performance of Gounod's Ave Maria at the state funeral of Pierre Trudeau, broadcast on all Canadian radio and television networks. With Cirque du Soleil, Nadya Blanchette performed in nearly 450 shows as a dazzling diva in Germany and Monaco.
Nadya Blanchette received numerous distinctions while obtaining a Master's Degree in Voice Performance at the Université de Montréal, among which the Prize for Best Performance of a Canadian Work in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition, the Second Prize at the Stepping Stone of the Canadian Music Competition and the First Prize of the Mount-Royal Symphony Orchestra. A winner at the Festival-Concours de Musique du Québec and the Canadian Music Competition, she also won the Four-City District at the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and was a finalist at the Young Concert Artists in New York. She received bursaries from Quebec's Arts Council and the City of Montreal.
On the contemporary music scene, Nadya Blanchette has premiered works of Canadian and American composers namely with the SMCQ. At the opera, she is an unforgettable Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème, acclaimed by the press. She is a guest soloist with the Orchestre Métropolitain, I Musici de Montréal, the Festival International de Musique de Lanaudière, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and choirs of Belgium, France and Romania. In concert, she has performed Handel's Messiah, Haendel's The Creation, Mozart's Exultate, Jubilate, Vesperae de confessore and Requiem, Brahms' German Requiem, Bach's Magnificat, Dvorak's Te Deum, Vivaldi's Gloria and Orff's Carmina Burana. Nadya Blanchette's recitals and concerts have also been broadcast on CBC.
Nadya Blanchette founded À tout chant, an ensemble performing original shows for voice and chamber orchestra created in a new, whimsical way. She is currently touring a new show entitled French Kiss, which includes beloved opera arias and original symphony arrangements of immortal songs.
A versatile artist, she nurtures a keen interest for music in contrasting styles, from opera to oratorio, French melody to Broadway favourites.
