BMO Financial Group presents Lang Lang with the VSO! Classical music’s most exciting superstar – and the greatest pianist of his generation – returns to the Orpheum stage to perform Gershwin’s famous and much-loved Rhapsody in Blue with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Tovey conducts this very special concert that also features the Australian String Quartet, led by former VSO Concertmaster Dale Barltrop. Lang Lang will also perform Saint-Saëns Aquarium from Carnival of the Animals, America from Bernstein’s West Side Story, and Sugar Plum Fairy, from Tchaikovsky’s famous Nutcracker. Lang Lang will be accompanied in each work by Maxim Lando, the most outstanding young talent from the Lang Lang Foundation, a star in the making who studies and performs regularly with Lang Lang.
