How can I obtain a winners’ list?
The winners’ list will be posted online at vancouversymphony.ca/lottery within five business days of the draw. You may also call the VSO at 604.684.9100 ext. 254.
All winners are contacted by phone within five business days of the draw.
What are the odds of winning?
Actual odds depend on number of tickets sold.
What is the 50/50 Bonus prize?
The 50/50 Bonus prize is half of the gross revenue from sales of the 50/50 Bonus tickets.
The actual prize is dependent on the number of tickets sold, and the maximum possible prize (if all tickets are sold) is $26,000.
How old do you have to be to purchase a ticket?
You must be at least 19 years of age.
Can I purchase tickets if I am not a resident of British Columbia?
Yes, provided that you are physically in the province for the duration of the transaction and a ticket or receipt is issued to you at the same time.
What if I lose my ticket?
We keep complete records of all of our ticket transactions, and can provide you with a photocopy or scan of your counterfoil upon request. You do not need your ticket to claim your prize.
How long do I have to claim my prize?
All winners have one year from the time of the draw to claim their prize(s). After this time, BC Gaming stipulates that they will determine where the prize should be donated.
How will I know if I have won a prize?
We contact all winners by phone or next available contact method within five business days following a draw.
How can I be sure my tickets are in the draw?
We audit all tickets before every draw, to ensure that all tickets are accounted for prior to each draw.
Will my name be publicized if I am a winner?
Yes, we publicize all winners’ names by using the last name and first initial.
When can I expect to receive my ticket(s)?
Please allow two to three weeks for the arrival of your ticket by mail.
Can I win more than once?
Yes, every ticket is eligible for every draw following its purchase, so if you win an Early Bird prize, the ticket goes back in the barrel and you could still win another Early Bird prize and be the Grand Prize winner.
How do I claim my prize?
If you are a winner, we will inform you on how to claim your prize. Our cash prizes can be picked up at our Administrative Offices in downtown Vancouver. Our concert ticket prizes are usually mailed, and the car will be made available at a local dealership. We require photo ID for all prizes valued at $100 and higher.
Is my ticket purchase tax deductible?
No, unfortunately it is not. Although your purchase generously helps a non-profit, the purchase of lottery tickets are not considered a charitable donation by the Canada Revenue Agency:
"It is our view that participants in lotteries, while perhaps influenced in choosing which lottery they will participate in by the identity of the organizing charity, are primarily motivated by the chance to win the significant prizes that are offered. Therefore, in some cases, while there may be an element of donative intent, in our view the amount of the advantage cannot be reasonably quantified. Accordingly, it continues to be our view that no part of the cost of a lottery ticket is a gift which may be receipted for income tax purposes."
Will my winnings be taxed?
As mandated by the Canada Revenue Agency, all lottery winnings are not taxable. They are not considered income or capital gains.

Your lottery ticket purchase helps the Vancouver Symphony to perform for over 250,000 people annually at over 150 concerts, bring world-renowned guest artists to Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, and offer exceptional education programs to over 50,000 children of all ages.
