Audience-favourite Maestro Jun Märkl returns with a program tracing the evolution of the French sound: lush and masterful orchestration, cyclical forms, and great thematic cohesion. Young Hungarian cellist István Várdai brings his famed “Du Pré-Harrell” Stradivarius, built in 1673, to tackle Saint-Saëns’ beloved Concerto No. 1.

Announcing the New President of the VSO

Angela Elster has been appointed as President and CEO of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and VSO School of Music. Etienne Bruson, newly elected Chair of the VSO Board of Directors, made the announcement at the start of today’s rehearsal. The appointment is effective immediately.
