Bio

Dr. Stephanie Chung is a distinguished pianist, conductor, educator, and philanthropist whose extraordinary musical journey began in Seoul, South Korea. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Seoul National University’s School of Music and completed advanced piano studies at the University of Southern California’s Graduate School of Music.

Her achievements in music and education have been recognized with multiple honorary doctorates, including a Doctor of Humanities from Trinity Western University and a Doctor of Music from Belhaven University.

Dr. Chung currently serves as the Executive Music Director and Conductor of the Vancouver Zion Mission Choir, an acclaimed ensemble dedicated to fostering cultural harmony and spiritual inspiration. Under her visionary leadership and deep commitment to honouring God through music, the choir has reached remarkable artistic milestones, including performances at the Blue House in South Korea, Carnegie Hall in New York, and Royal Albert Hall in London.

Her influence extends globally through her leadership in music education and cultural exchange. She has served as Asian Director for Italy’s Casalmaggiore International Music Festival and as Director of the Pacific Rim Conservatory of Music and Arts. She has also contributed to Canada’s artistic community through board service with the Vancouver Opera and currently serves on the board of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Chung’s international recognition includes awards such as the U.S. President’s Service Award (2013), South Korea’s Order of Civil Merit “Dongbaek Medal” (2015), and the King Charles III Coronation Medal (2025), affirming her impact in advancing musical artistry, cultural dialogue, and community uplift.
