Bio

Franz Gürtelschmied grew up surrounded by the traditions of a great city steeped in musical history. His natural versatility is evident in his intensive work with opera, operetta, Lieder, and church music, as well as his interpretations of contemporary music. Mr. Gürtelschmied’s repertoire ranges from Italian opera to Wagner, Mozart, and Bernstein. He was in the cast of two main productions at the Salzburg Festival and was engaged as a member of the Young Singers Project. Last season he sang in Parsifal at Opéra Bastille in Paris and appeared as Steersman in Der Fliegende Holländer in Budapest. Future debuts will include Handel’s Messiah and Kálmán’s Gypsy Princess.
