Bio

Harrison Dearman was born in Austin, Texas and grew up in thriving arts town of Denton, Texas. Harry played guitar from a young age and began learning the bass at the age of eleven in his local school orchestra program. Shortly thereafter he began studying privately with Dr. Gudrun Raschen and went on to join the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. In 2016 he had the privilege of playing for the National Youth Orchestra of the United States. He then decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in his hometown at the University of North Texas and graduated with honors under Jeff Bradetich in the Spring of 2020. At this time, his other major teachers included Dr. Allen Whear and Joel Quarrington.

Harry has played concerts all over North America, Europe and Asia, in some of the world’s finest concert halls including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Concertgebouw and Walt Disney Hall. He has also had the fortune to share the stage with many extraordinary conductors, such as Sir Simon Rattle, Daniele Gatti, Sir Antonio Pappano and Essa-Pekka Salonen. Starting in 2022, Harry had the opportunity to spend three summers as a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Verbier, Switzerland. Additionally, he has participated in the Tsinandali festival in Tbilisi, Georgia, the 2019 New York String Orchestra Seminar, the Aspen Music Festival, the Saluzzo Opera Academy in Saluzzo, Italy and the PRISMA Festival in beautiful Powell River, British Columbia, among others. He was also an ambassador for the Orford Music Academy in Mount Orford National Park, Quebec. Harry was named winner of the Denton Bach Society competition in 2010 and the Louisiana Bass Festival solo competition in 2019.

In Spring 2023 Harry graduated with a Master’s Degree from the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California, where he studied with Peter Lloyd. At that time he was also a bass instructor and ensemble coach for the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles Torres Branch. Harry has performed with many wonderful ensembles such as Opera San Antonio, the Oakland and Santa Rosa Symphonies, the Bassinova Quartet, the Orchestra of New Spain and the American Baroque Opera Company.
