Acrobat, juggler, and renowned clown, Jamie Adkins began his career at age 13 as a street performer in his San Diego neighborhood, delighting passersby. Later, in San Francisco, he continued his training with the Pickle Family Circus. Always striving to push his limits, he then joined Cirque Éloize. from Montreal. Thanks to his skills and years of experience as an acrobat, juggler, and tightrope walker, he became a full member of Cirque Éloize. His contribution to the Excantricus project , presented more than 500 times, is invaluable. He distinguished himself through his unique style, his touching humility, and his commitment to conveying, with humor, the very essence of the ordinary person. Then, still in collaboration with the Cirque Éloize , he produces his own creation, TYPO, with which he embarked on a world tour. More than 200 performances of TYPO were given in two years. The artist garnered critical acclaim and won the hearts of audiences.
Continuing his research, Jamie Adkins created Circus Incognitus in 2008. which allows him to share his art and showcase the full range of his talents to audiences. Wherever he goes, he enjoys immense success, with critics constantly raving about him, as evidenced by his impressive press kit. The show has been performed over 1,300 times in 37 countries.
Jamie Adkins has performed throughout North and South America, Europe, Australia, and China. He is well-known to audiences in England and Scotland. He has participated in numerous festivals, including in Denmark (Holbaeck, Odsherred) and Ireland (Draoicht, Kilkenny), Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Macau, Mexico City, and Italy. He has been a guest at the Sydney Opera House, Auckland, Brisbane, Adelaide, New Caledonia, Tahiti, and Bermuda. He has given hundreds of performances across Canada and the United States; his residencies at the New Victory Theatre (NY) and Lincoln Center (NY) were highly successful. In the fall of 2015, he had a two-month run at the Théâtre des Bouffes Parisiens in Paris. In March 2018, he premiered Mischief at the Cinquième Salle of Place des Arts (Montreal) and in its American premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in New York.
Now a Canadian citizen and resident of Quebec (Gatineau) for nearly 20 years, Jamie Adkins is recognized as one of the most talented contemporary circus artists in Canada. His performances resonate with audiences both nationally and internationally. His imagination, talent, and ingenuity have earned him the appreciation of both his peers and the general public. Through his national and international reach, he contributes to making circus arts and clowning accessible and engaging for all audiences.
