Bio
Mónika Fischl studied singing at the Liszt Music Academy and then joined the Budapest Operetta Theatre. She has performed many of the classical prima donna roles in Hungarian and Viennese operetta, such as Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Hanna in Merry Widow, the title roles in Kálmán’s operettas, Duchess of Chicago and Countess Maritza, as well as her most acclaimed performance, Sylva in Gypsy Princess, which she performed both on film and at the Seefestspiele Mӧrbisch in Austria. Her operatic repertoire includes roles such as Violetta, Queen of the Night, Gilda, Norina, and Musetta. She has performed her concert repertoire throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. She is a recipient of the Artisjus Prize and Honthy Prize, and was named the Operetta Singer of the Season in both 2012 and 2016, as well as the Franz Liszt prize in 2021.
