Sophia Myles

Bio
Sophia Myles was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 2005. She began to play the piano when she was five, and to compose when she was seven. Sophia has been taking composition lessons at the Vancouver Academy of Music with Edward Top since 2018. With a deep passion for writing orchestral music, Sophia was the prize winner of the 2023 Young Composer’s Competition (Collegiate Category) hosted by VAMSO. In January 2024, Sophia’s piece Visages for violin and piano was performed as the opening piece at the concert of The Selected Chamber Works of Edward Top at the Canadian Music Centre. Previous compositional endeavours include having had two of her pieces performed at the 2023 Sonic Boom Festival, as well as having participated in Compocon 2020 of the Standing Wave Ensemble.
Sophia is currently completing her Bachelor of Music in Composition at S.K. Lee College (Vancouver Academy of Music).
