Bio

Based out of the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples, Thad received his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Capilano University in 2018 and has since become a staple in so called Vancouver's jazz scene. He performs weekly throughout the city and has been featured on well over a dozen albums encompassing numerous styles of music. Having built a promising career as a prolific performer, Thad has recently embarked on a new path as a composer. Thad’s journey in composition began when performance opportunities vanished during the pandemic, but the need to create lingered. In the years that have followed, he has written a breadth of solo instrumental pieces, small chamber ensemble works, and orchestral suites. His music holds a strong proclivity towards the lush tonalities of the late-romantic era, juxtaposed with the melodic intensity, extended harmonies, and rhythmic language of the jazz tradition. Thad often aims to evoke a cinematic sense of imagery, intent on conveying the feeling of being immersed in his most cherished corners of the coastal wilderness.
