Maestro Bramwell Tovey presides over an intensely beautiful meditation on love, devotion, and the fragility of time. Emily Doolittle's A Short, Slow Life reflects on the beauty and uncertainty of life, with text from Elizabeth Bishop's reflections on her Nova Scotia childhood. Kati Agócs’ Devotion and Vessel combine luminous, brilliant textures with the composer's visceral power and otherworldly lyricism.

And, in his final Symphony at the Annex concert, Maestro Tovey gives audiences an early glimpse at his brand-new opera, The Girl For Sale, exploring a moment in East End London where Eliza Armstrong was sold by her parents for £5. Joel Ivany's powerful libretto tells the story of The Salvation Army, led equally by men and women, fighting to change the laws afflicting London's most disadvantaged.
