Based on a book by Arthur Laurents, in turn inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, West Side Story is a timeless tale of love and tragedy, famously set to exciting music by Leonard Bernstein. Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 is uniquely beautiful in his symphonic output, built around a song written about a child’s vision of Heaven.
