100 YEARS OF VSO.
On January 26th, 2019, from 9:30AM – 9:30PM, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will be celebrating our 100th birthday with 12 hours of free music for all!
TAKING PLACE AT The Orpheum Theatre, the Annex Theatre, Tom Lee Music Granville, and the VSO School of Music.
PERFORMANCES ranging from large ensembles and renowned soloists to intimate chamber music, world music, and Vancouver’s best and brightest emerging talent.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE Trial lessons, workshops, instrument petting zoos, food trucks, activities for kids and families, and opportunities to interact with incredible musicians.
This once in a lifetime event will culminate in a concert with the VSO and the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra in a joint performance that celebrates past, present and future generations of music-makers on the very same date, January 26th, that it all started, 100 years ago. It will be a day you won’t want to miss!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE
What is the Day of Music?
The Day of Music is a FREE event featuring over 100 musical performances, workshops and activities taking place across three venues: the Orpheum Theatre, The VSO School of Music, the Annex Theatre, and the Tom Lee Music Experience Centre. You can pick and choose which events and activities to attend by checking out our schedule HERE. No tickets or registration required – just bring yourself and your friends for an amazing day of live performances!
When is The Day of Music?
The Day of Music is on Saturday, January 26th, 2019 – exactly 100 years after the first concert given by the VSO. The first performances start at 9:30am and the last performance concludes at 9:30pm.
Is there food?
What kind of music will there be?
There will be a huge variety of the music: including symphonic music, choral music, chamber music, new music, early music, opera, world music, and even a yoga class to live music. Check out the full schedule for more information.
Is this family friendly?
Yes – there will be instrument fairs, performances, and special activities for kids at the VSO School of Music throughout the day.
Can I bring my pet?
Only service animals are welcome inside the performance spaces.
Where can I park?
Pay-parking is located across from the Orpheum Theatre on Seymour Street. We are anticipating large number of people joining us for this special day, so plan accordingly.
Where can I park my bike?
Bike racks are available around the venues, however we have no dedicated secure lock up for Day of Music.
How can I get there on public transit?
The Day of Music venues are easily accessible by route #4, #7, #10, #14, #16, #17, #20, and #50 busses, which stop on Granville Street a block away from the venues. The venues are also just a short walk from the Vancouver City Centre Station on the Canada Line and Expo Line.
Is Day of Music Accessible?
All Day of Music venues are wheelchair accessible.
