Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3 is a masterpiece in and of itself. Operatic conventions mix with distinctively heroic Beethovenian energy, ending in a jubilant celebration of love. By contrast, Berlioz’s La mort de Cléopâtre (The Death of Cleopatra) is a stark and heartbreaking cantata, performed here by the great Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman-Lee. The concert closes with Hungarian composer Béla Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, one of his most popular works.

Join award-winning Canadian Soprano Measha Brueggergosman-Lee for a performance masterclass, as she shares secrets of her electric performance presence with advanced student singers & instrumentalists in the intimate atmosphere of Pyatt Hall.
