Ein Heldenleben

Approx. 120 Minute Performance

1 Intermission

Three-time Grammy® Award-winner Hilary Hahn returns at last to the VSO to share her soulful interpretation of the Sibelius Violin Concerto. Hahn’s ability to deftly balance acrobatic virtuosity and extreme vulnerability has made her a fan- favourite around the world. Plus a thrilling orchestral workout by Richard Strauss, and Canadian composer Ana Sokolovic’s charming Nine Proverbs.

NOTE: Due to a sudden illness, Maestro Otto Tausk will be unable to conduct this performance. We wish him a speedy recovery. Conductor Courtney Lewis returns to the Orpheum stage to conduct the Sibelius Violin Concerto and Ein Heldenleben. David Bui, RBC Assistant Conductor, will conduct Sokolovic’s Nine Proverbs.

Hilary Hahn joins advanced violin students from the VSO School of Music to share her joy of music with the next generation of musicians.
