We also hear Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, a piece composed at the height of his powers, and giving every sign of the astonishing body of work yet to come. Guest condutor Dietrich Paredes, a graduate of Venezuela’s famed El Sistema program, leads the VSO, opening the concert with Mendelssohn’s beloved Hebrides Overture.
