Symphony No. 8

Approx. 120 Minute Performance

1 Intermission

Take a musical journey from light into darkness in a single concert. Praised by The New York Times for her “fierce dramatic commitment,” violinist Bomsori Kim performs Mozart’s theatrical Fifth Violin Concerto, known as the “Turkish” for its rhythmically charged finale. Maestro Alpesh Chauhan returns to the VSO to lead Shostakovich’s monumental Eighth Symphony, a brutally honest portrayal of World War II and one of the composer’s most powerful works.
