The musicians of the VSO are thrilled to be back to playing the series they curate, the VSO Chamber Players! It’s a joy to share this music in the intimate and acoustically-brilliant Pyatt Hall for four concert programs, each with an evening and matinee option.

Our November programme features two beautiful works from Paris, the Fauré Piano Quartet in C Minor, and the Enescu String Octet in C Major.  Gabriel Fauré was one of the greatest French composers of his generation, and this lyrical and lively work shows his profound talent.  Romanian composer Georges Enescu had just finished his studies at the Paris Conservatory, and completed this masterful octet when he was only 19 years old.  It is full of rich harmonies and polyphony, lyricism, joyful Romanian folk songs, and incredible virtuosity from each of the eight players.
