1 Intermission

Enter a world of dreams, beginning with Scriabin’s sublime Rêverie. Chief conductor of the Belgian National Orchestra, Antony Hermus, presents a program ranging from sinister danger to fairytale enchantment. Violinist Kevin Zhu rises to the formidable challenge of Shostakovich’s First Violin Concerto, a subversive masterpiece of dark beauty. To end the evening, Prokofiev’s Cinderella Suite from his charming ballet reminds us of the magic of dreams coming true and the true love’s triumph.
