Das Lied von der Erde (Songs of the Earth)

A program contemplating ancient ideas of the earth and our place on it. Mahler took inspiration for his Songs of the Earth from Tan Dynasty poet Li Po. Chinese superstar composer Tan Dun, a big fan of Mahler, wrote his Earth Concerto in dialogue with Mahler’s Songs.
