Maestro Tausk and violin virtuoso Paul Huang rise to the challenge of Shostakovich’s emotionally charged and frenzied First Violin Concerto. John Adams’ groundbreaking Harmonielehre receives its much-anticipated BC premiere, propelling the orchestra to new heights with its vision of an oil tanker rocketing skyward. Plus hear the world premiere of Earth, Beloved from BC composer Nicholas Ryan Kelly, and featuring the Elektra Women’s Choir.

Earth, Beloved was commissioned by Elektra Women’s Choir, Morna Edmundson, Artistic Director, with the generous assistance of the Diane Loomer Commissioning Fund and with the assistance of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Victoria Symphony through the Hugh Davidson Fund at the Victoria Foundation.
