THE BEETHOVEN EXPERIENCE: A MOST REMARKABLE NIGHT
December 22, 1808 has been called the “most remarkable” night of Beethoven’s career. An astounding four-hour concert saw the premières of both the 5th and 6th Symphonies, the Choral Fantasy and his Piano Concerto No. 4 along with an improvised piano fantasy — Beethoven conducting and playing all of it. The Pastorale is Beethoven’s portrait of nature. The first bars of the 4th Piano Concerto take one’s breath away. Enjoy the second half of the “remarkable” night the following evening, March 14th, with a BeethovenFest pass. Part of the Masterworks Diamond series.

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC: MOZART & BERLIOZ
To close the season, Maestro Tausk has put together an ode to summer, just in time for sunshine season in Vancouver. Superstar mezzo-soprano Susan Graham joins us for one of Berlioz’s most popular works, an exploration of love’s evolution over a series of summer nights. Mozart loved a good party and the last act of The Marriage of Figaro is perhaps one of the best he threw.
