Today, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) and TD Bank Group announced a special concert to be held at the historic Orpheum on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 at 8 p.m. The purpose of the TD Connecting Communities Concert will help ensure orchestral music is accessible to Vancouver audiences and build awareness that the power of music has to bring communities together to share in the richness and diversity of live orchestral music. A special allotment of tickets will be offered to important charities serving the Vancouver community, and over 1,000 free tickets will be available to the general public at VancouverSymphony.ca on Friday, Dec. 20 at noon (while quantities last).

Conducted by Maestro Julian Pellicano, recently appointed to the conducting staff of the National Ballet of Canada starting with the 2024/25 season and is Music Director and Principal Conductor of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, this concert will feature the Grammy and Juno award-winning VSO performing a curated program of classical favourites, plus popular pieces from a selection of movies, and more!

“The VSO firmly believes that live music is for everyone, and we’re excited to welcome thousands of new audiences to the Orpheum for the second annual TD Connecting Communities concert,” says Angela Elster, CEO & President of the VSO and VSO School of Music. “We’d like to thank TD for showing true corporate leadership and supporting our goals of accessible programs by reducing barriers, serving our local community, and welcoming new fans who may not have had the chance to attend a VSO concert in the past. I believe that the orchestra is uniquely positioned to play an important role as a cultural mediator in the city of Vancouver, bringing people together from all walks of life to celebrate our differences and shared humanity.”

The TD Connecting Communities Concert is made possible thanks to a generous $100,000 gift from the TD Ready Commitment. This gift also supports the upcoming 2025 The Path Forward, being help on June 21, 2025, curated by the VSO’s Indigenous Council.

“We’re so proud to work with the VSO to help give more members of our community a chance to experience an incredible live orchestral performance,” said Catherine Dangerfield, Assistant Pacific Region Head, TD Wealth. “Through the TD Ready Commitment, our corporate citizenship platform, we’re supporting organizations focused on increasing access for people to take part in music, arts and cultural events.” For full details, please visit: vancouversymphony.ca/communityconcert
