Bio

Georgie is excited to be moving to Vancouver in September to play with the VSO. She is moving from London where she has lived and worked for 15 years. Georgie started playing the violin and piano aged 4, and later won a government scholarship at Wells Cathedral School, a specialist music school. She has a Bachelor’s in academic music from Royal Holloway University of London and a Masters in violin performance from the Royal Academy of Music. Following that she was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra from 2011-12 touring Europe and the US, a highlight of which was performing at Carnegie Hall with Itzhak Perlman.

Georgie has had a diverse career playing with orchestras and ensembles in London and around the UK, in the pits of West End theatres, at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival, on the stage of the Royal Albert Hall at the BBC Proms, and even appearing on screen in ‘Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation’ and the final episode of the Netflix series ‘The Crown’. She has also toured extensively with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Georgie has always loved to teach and has 18 years experience teaching at all levels, privately, in schools, groups, whole classes, workshops, children with special educational needs, and also adults. She has held several posts in schools and lead a whole school violin group programme for 5-7 year olds for 13 years. Georgie is particularly passionate about starting young students on their musical journey and her approach includes elements of Suzuki, Dalcroze, and Solfège with a strong emphasis on musicianship, and always enjoys accompanying students on the piano. She is experienced in giving masterclasses to more advanced students preparing for exams or competitions, as well as chamber music coaching.

When she’s not at work Georgie enjoys wild swimming, cooking Italian food, and playing Scandi folk tunes on the mandolin.
