Partnerships and Opportunities
The VSO maintains partnerships with educational and community organizations, through which we aspire to support the growth and appreciation of symphonic music, and to advocate for outstanding music education in schools and community music organizations.
Coalition for Music Education in British Columbia
The VSO participates annually in Music Monday, a nation-wide celebration of music education in schools, presented by CMEBC. We also co-sponsor the Principals of Music award, presented every year to a school principal who demonstrates outstanding support for music education in his or her school.
University of British Columbia School of Music & Faculty of Education
The VSO partners with the University of British Columbia in several ways: we present masterclasses with world-renowned VSO guest artists along with the UBC School of Music; UBC students participate as teachers and clinicians in the VSO Connects program; and we collaborate with the UBC Faculty of Education to present the VSO Enhanced Practicum, an opportunity for a music education student teacher to join the VSO Education Department for a period of time, and assist with program development and implementation.
The VSO is proud and delighted to welcome the Saint James Music Academy (SJMA) as a community partner. We believe in SJMA’s vision to bring about social transformation through music, providing young people with opportunities to explore their creative potential, share in the joy of symphonic music, and benefit from the feeling of pride and community that this program fosters among its young participants.
The VSO and Vancouver Academy of Music co-present clinics and masterclasses given by world renowned VSO guest artists.

Hundreds of volunteers provide incredible support to the VSO each and every day. Their time, enthusiasm, and commitment provide integral support to the VSO.

Ticket Donation Requests
Every year, the VSO supports numerous not-for-profit organizations through donations of ticket vouchers, which are used for fundraising activities such as auctions and raffles.
