Bio

A native of South Korea, Joo Bin Yi earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts as the Francis W. Hatch Presidential Scholar. He studied with John Ferrillo, Principal Oboe of the Boston Symphony, and Anne-Marie Gabriele, Second Oboe of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He recently spent three years with the New World Symphony during which he recorded Aaron Copland’s “Quiet City” under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas.

As a guest musician, Mr. Yi has performed in concerts with the Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Antonio Symphony. He recently appeared as guest Principal with the Seattle Symphony, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Florida Orchestra, and the Wald Ensemble in South Korea.

As a student, he spent two extensive months at the Tanglewood Music Center in 2019-2020 and at the Round Top Festival Institute in 2013.
