Bio

Manuel Lok is a Canadian violinist born and raised in Toronto. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Mannes School of Music, studying under the tutelage of Lewis Kaplan and Yibin Li. He went on to pursue his master’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music, guided by Ilya Kaler. Manuel also holds an ARCT diploma in violin performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Manuel participated in the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, where he served as one of the concertmasters during their 2022 season and was presented with the Stephen Sitarski Leadership Award. He was also a member of the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, the Mannes Baroque Chamber Players, as well as the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. Additionally, he has participated in the International Summer Academy at Mozarteum University in Salzburg, the Sesto Rocchi Open Chamber Festival in Italy, and Morningside Music Bridge at the Central Conservatory in Beijing.

Manuel has had the privilege of performing alongside the Rolston String Quartet, as well as members of The Cleveland Orchestra and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He has also worked with members of the Orion Quartet, JACK Quartet, and Formosa Quartet. Manuel previously studied with Min-Jeong Koh, Erika Raum, and Hyung-Sun Paik.
