Strings & Jazz at the Playhouse

Join us at the Vancouver Playhouse as the VSO School’s four string ensembles and Honour Jazz Combo come together for a thrilling evening of strings and swing!

Sinfonietta will collaborate with the VSOSoM’s new Honour Jazz Combo to perform a unique symphonic arrangement of Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are A-Changin’, featuring rising star jazz vocalist Maya Rae. The Combo, made up of the lower mainland’s very brightest up-and-comers, will warm up a cold night with familiar standards and hot new works.

The audience will also be treated to rousing works by Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and Piazzola, as well as Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Violins, featuring Kai Chow, Catherine Teng, Britney Do and Da-Wei Chan. The night will end with everyone uniting for an uplifting rendition of Oscar Peterson’s Hymn to Freedom.
