What health and safety requirements are in place at VSO concerts?

Proof of vaccination is currently required for everyone aged 12 and over to attend a VSO concert. Everyone 12 and over is also required to wear a mask.

We have put in place comfort spacing this fall to ensure space between each household.

Vancouver Civic Theatres has increased cleaning protocols at the Orpheum Theatre to include sanitizing all touchpoints before a performance. Hand sanitizer will be available at entrances and in lobby spaces.

VSO has introduced a new app to support touchless digital tickets. The app is freely available in Apple and Android app stores.


Why are you not offering subscriptions this fall?

To accommodate reduced capacity, the VSO has made the difficult decision to postpone subscription package sales this fall. Subscriber seats will be carried over to the 2022-23 season.

Comfort spacing will be implemented to create space between households.


Do I need to have proof of vaccination to attend?

Currently, everyone twelve and over must show proof of vaccination to enter our concert halls. Please arrive with a piece of id and proof of vaccination ready to display.


Do I need to wear a mask to attend a concert?

Yes. Currently, everyone 12 and over is required to wear a mask when in indoor public spaces.


When will January 2021 tickets go on sale?

We expect to put winter concert tickets on sale in November.


Will there be new digital broadcasts this season?

Yes. We are moving our digital broadcasts from TheConcertHall.ca to the new VSO Online series at VancouverSymphony.ca/VSO-Online. Details will be announced shortly.


Can I use credit I have on account from previously cancelled concerts to purchase tickets this season?

Yes. Please contact the VSO Box Office at customerservice@vancouversymphony.ca or 604-876-3434 and our team will be happy to apply credits from cancelled concerts to new ticket orders.


How can I support the VSO in this rebuilding season?

Attending concerts is the perfect way to help us rebuild. You can also support us by joining our $500,000 matching gift campaign. A generous donor will match every donation made to the VSO this season to a total of $500,000.


How do I purchase tickets?

Tickets to all regular series concerts from October through December are on sale.

Tickets can be purchased on our website or by contacting the VSO Box Office at 604-876-3434 or customerservice@vancouversymphony.ca.

What time should I arrive before the concert?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to performance time to allow for vaccination proof check. Doors open 1 hour prior to performance start time. In general, we suggest arriving 10 minutes earlier than you normally would.


Do you have senior and student prices?

Individuals 65 and over qualify for senior prices to most VSO performances.

Students in full-time attendance at secondary and post-secondary schools qualify for student pricing. Please bring a valid student ID to performance. If you are not able to provide proof of current full-time enrollment, you may be denied entrance.


How long are VSO concerts?

Most VSO concerts are approximately 2 hours long, including a twenty-minute intermission.


What happens if I arrive late at the theatre?

Most venues have a latecomers policy that allows latecomers to be seated at an appropriate break in the music, chosen by the conductor, at the back of the theatre. Latecomers can then move to their originally purchased seats after intermission. These policies may differ from concert to concert, and from venue to venue.


How old should children be to attend a VSO concert?

Children of all ages are welcome at the Origino Kids Concerts.

However, it is not recommended for children under six years of age to attend classics or pops concerts. They typically find it difficult to sit still for the duration of the performance and may disturb other concert goers if fidgeting or making noise. Ushers will ask disruptive audience members to move to the lobby.


Do babies require tickets to attend concerts?

Fire regulations require that all individuals, including babes-in-arms, are ticketed so that we have an accurate head count of attendees at all performances.

What are your policies on cameras and phones in concerts?

Please silence your mobile devices before entering the theatre.

Cameras and cellphones are distracting to musicians and the audience members around you. Do not take photos or videos during performances. This rule is enforced by ushers and audience members who do not comply will be asked to leave the performance.

The VSO is piloting the VSO App this season with digital program notes. You are welcome you use your mobile device in your lap, discreetly, to read program notes.


How can I purchase rush tickets?

From time-to-time, reduced-price rush tickets are made available at the door of performances. Check at the box office window on the night of the performance to find out if rush tickets are available.


Can I get digital tickets on my phone?

Yes! The new VSO App lets you take your tickets with you on your mobile device. Search “Vancouver Symphony” in the Android or Apple App Stores to download the free VSO App. You can login using the same credentials you use at VancouverSymphony.ca
