Transforming Lives Through The Power of Music

The VSO is a JUNO and GRAMMY award winning orchestra that performs 150 artistically exquisite concerts annually, but the organization and its musicians do so much more. When you support the Vancouver Symphony Gala, you create a tangible impact on the health and wellbeing of society.

Empowering Youth

Research proves that music:

  • guides youth towards collaboration and ways to find passion, and explore and express their emotions
  • encourages creativity in a safe and judgement-free space
  • improves language, motor and cognitive skills
  • helps develop working memory
  • stimulates the parts of the brain related to math, reading and emotional development
  • builds confidence and teamwork

The VSO School of Music’s Youth Empowerment Program, designed specifically for homeless youth and youth-at-risk,
is an excellent example of this. We are proud to partner with Covenant House, Rainbow Refugee and others

Aspiring Artists

  • Students have gone on to win provincial music competitions and study at North America’s finest post grad music institutions
  • VSO musicians develop the next generation of artists and
music lovers helping to make their music dreams come true

  • VSO Relaxed Performances are created to provide a more open, inclusive, accessible environment for neurodivergent audiences and community members
  • Mini Music Makers, the VSO School of Music’s signature early years program, provides social, emotional, and academic advantages for infants and toddlers
