Visions of Heaven: Mozart, Golijov & Mahler

A musical contemplation of spirituality and human existence. Through the lens of the incorrigible Don Giovanni, Mozart wrestled with the purpose of being, and unwittingly examined the end of his own life. Experience the incredible depth of Alisa Weilerstein as she performs Argentinian composer Golijov’s contemplative cello concerto that explores heaven through the blue (azul) sky. Maestro Tausk closes the program with Mahler’s take on a child’s vision of heaven.

Tony DeSare: Sinatra & Beyond

Called “two parts Frank Sinatra and one part Billy Joel,” the triple-threat singer/pianist/songwriter Tony DeSare takes on the legend of Ol’ Blue Eyes himself. From jazz clubs to Carnegie Hall to headlining with major symphony orchestras, Tony DeSare delivers a fresh take on old school class. An outstanding, critically-acclaimed tribute to the great Frank Sinatra that includes songs like Come Fly with Me, I’ve Got the World On a String, It Was A Very Good Year, One for My Baby, The Summer Wind, I Get A Kick Out of You, Night and Day, New York, New York, and so many more Sinatra classics.

Wayne Marshall Plays Rhapsody in Blue

British conductor, organist, and pianist Wayne Marshall is world-renowned for his virtuosic ability to seamlessly inhabit the worlds of classical, popular, and jazz music with consummate ease. Don’t miss Marshall’s ferocious talent as he does double duty on the podium and leading from the piano in Gershwin’s seminal Rhapsody in Blue and conductor/arranger Leopold Stokowski’s grand orchestral vision of Bach’s imposing Toccata and Fugue, popularized as the opening to Disney’s Fantasia.
